Mr. Brink | YIS Advisor
How do you feel about your last year of being an advisor of YIS in Myanmar? My last year as YIS advisor has been an extremely rewarding one. One thing that I am really happy about is that we have round 63 or 64 YIS students at YMUN and if you look. If you take under consideration of all the officers, delegates, and press team members, we have the biggest presence at YMUN. We have more participants than any other school. I’m really proud of that because myself, Ms. Harding and all of the people that are participating from YIS, we put in a lot of work a lot of effort and there’s been a lot of students that I know that are now at really good schools, that are at university now that I’ve worked with and they too have put in a lot of effort to build a great program at YIS. So I feel very fulfilled with my time with MUN at YIS, but on the other side, of course, because I put a lot of energy and I’ve gotten a lot back from the students, it’s going to be something that I'm going to miss quite a lot. I’m going to think back about it often about all the fun memories, and the interesting thing too. That is one thing I’m thinking about because I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’m already thinking about how i might get involved with MUN in the future. And no matter where I’m at as an educator, I think that I will gravitate towards MUN. If I go to school that doesn't have a MUN program, because of YIS and the students there, they have motivated me that I would want to start the same thing at that school. If I go to school that already has and existing one than I will take the knowledge and the lessons that the YIS student have given me all throughout these years and try to use it as advice and guidance for a school that already has a program. |

Do you have any embarrassing moments in YMUN? Ah yes. It was my first YMUN experience. I wasn’t that prepared because I was nervous as well. I was speaking at the podium, and I got a POI. This guy asked me a POI, and I couldn’t answer. I was standing there in silence for a long time until the chair said, “Do you want to answer in note form?” And I was like, “Okay I guess. That’s my last resort.” So I said, “This delegate would answer in note form”. I looked up, and Mr. Brink was staring right at me. |
